look out on the sidewalk

quiet mornings spent
by the window's desk.
so flutters a day curtain;
the morning's soft light comes streaming in,
blanketing the table with a white hue.
j.mayer's playing his acoustic
closed my eyes
took a breath
felt this heart strangely stilled.
heard the soft whirl of the ceiling fan,
some muffled hum of movement
and a vacuum of hurriedness.
lap up the quiet;
it floods my soul
be still.
